Computationally Intensive Methods in Statistics & Econometrics
Satellite meeting of COMPSTAT 2014

The satellite meeting aims to provide researchers with a forum to promote and discuss the most recent developments in computationally intensive methods in statistics & econometrics, as well as its applications. The workshop is dedicated to Manfred Gilli. The non-formal nature of the meeting will facilitate the research stimulation and networking.

The satellite meeting is open only to COMPSTAT participants. It will take place on Saturday 23th of August 2014. Neuch√Ętel is one hour by train from Geneva.

The deadline for abstracts is May 30th. Submit your abstracts using the electronic abstract submission tool.

The Keynote speaker is Elvezio Ronchetti, University of Geneva, Switzerland.

Travel and Venue

Neuchâtel is a charming town located in the northwestern part of Switzerland in a beautiful landscape of lake and mountains. Information about the region is available from

Trains leave at least hourly from Geneva and the journey takes one hour. The Satellite meeting will be held in the main building of the Faculty of Sciences (letter D on the map that you can download here).

You can reach the building from Place Pury (the main place of the city where all buses stop, letter A on the map) by taking bus number 7 until the stop Portes-Rouges (letter C on the map). You will be north of the railway tracks. Then, go south and cross the bridge across the tracks to reach the main building of the Faculty of Science (letter D on the map). If you want to come by foot, it should take approximately 20 to 25 minutes from the city center.

If you come by train, you can take bus number 7 north of the railway station (letter B on the map), or you can walk and follow the road north of the railway tracks until you reach Portes-Rouges (15 minutes).

You can enter the building from the north or south entrance. You will find signs leading to the conference rooms.

The Conference participants can reserve their accommodation on line through the Neuchâtel Tourist office. The Hôtel des Arts, Hôtel Touring au Lac and Hôtel Beaulac are near the conference site and the town center.
